ICT Team of FKIP ULM Supports the Success of PKKMB 2024

The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) played an active role in supporting the successful implementation of the Student Orientation Program (PKKMB) for the 2024–2025 academic year, held from August 13 to 16, 2024.

This year, PKKMB FKIP was attended by 1,786 new students from 21 study programs. The event was divided into three main sessions:

  • University Orientation Session (August 13–14), held at the ULM Auditorium Banjarbaru, General Building (GB) ULM, and Student Activity Centre (SAC) Banjarmasin.
  • Faculty Orientation Session (August 15), conducted at GB, SAC, Hasan Bondan Hall, and several other halls within FKIP.
  • Study Program Orientation Session (August 16), which took place in various classrooms at FKIP ULM Banjarmasin and Banjarbaru.

ICT Team’s Role

As the unit responsible for information technology support, the ICT Team of FKIP ULM ensured that all activities ran smoothly from a technical perspective. Their support included providing multimedia equipment in all event rooms, managing the Simari system—the core of academic administration—and maintaining internet connectivity for committees, speakers, and new students.

During the first session, the ICT Team supported the smooth running of the new student inauguration ceremony and the delivery of essential materials such as The Higher Education System in Indonesia: Universities in the Era of Industrial Revolution 5.0, Local Wisdom “Waja Sampai ka Puting”, and Introduction to Student Services.

In the second session, ICT ensured that digital materials and service information were easily accessible to students. The team also assisted in the socialization of the Academic Management Information System (Simari), Diploma Supplement (SKPI), and Student Activity Credit System (SKKM), enabling new students to understand the platforms they will use throughout their studies.

In the third session at the study program level, the ICT Team facilitated the technical use of Simari and supported the introduction of curricula and student organizations in each program.

Commitment of FKIP ICT

Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, emphasized the importance of technology support in modern education. This aligns with FKIP’s commitment to serve not only undergraduate students but also 2,115 students in the In-Service Teacher Professional Education Program (PPG Dalam Jabatan) and 468 students in the Pre-Service PPG Program (PPG Prajabatan).

“You are studying at the right place,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Head of the Geography Education Study Program, Karunia Puji Astuti, stated that FKIP continues to develop its infrastructure, including the revitalization of laboratories that will be equipped with new tools either this year or next year. The ICT Team is ready to support the optimal use of these facilities so students can learn with the best resources.

With the collaboration of all committees, faculty leadership, and full support from the ICT Team of FKIP ULM, the PKKMB 2024 series of activities ran smoothly, informatively, and provided a positive first experience for all new students.
