Banjarmasin – In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held two sports tournaments for FKIP ULM staff. The tournaments included a pickleball tournament on Sunday, 17/08, and an e-sport football tournament on Saturday, 23/08. According to one of the committee members, Adhitya, these tournaments are part of the faculty’s annual program to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day.
According to the pickleball tournament chair, Rusmansyah, in addition to celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day, the event was organized to strengthen camaraderie among staff and to popularize pickleball to the public. “Pickleball has now become a sport featured in various competitions, including national championships such as the ONG Open, the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS), and the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) scheduled for October 2025. Alongside this tournament, a U-21 category was also held, which is expected to encourage young people to get involved in pickleball,” he explained.
The pickleball tournament featured 38 participants or 19 teams. The winners were: Ramadhan Arifin and Hardyan Candra (1st place), Akhmad Ramadhani and Sabhan (2nd place), Indra Nur Adhitya and Muhammad Irham (3rd place), and Lazuardy Akbar Fauzan and Rasyid Humaidi (4th place).
Meanwhile, regarding the e-football tournament, Muhammad Budi Zakia Sani explained that the idea arose from the growing interest of lecturers and staff in e-sports. “Also, nostalgic memories of playing PlayStation in the past inspired participants to compete strategically in e-football. The support from leadership also made this event possible,” he said.
The e-football tournament involved 28 participants. The winners were: Muhammad Aji Pratama (1st place), Rahman Nul Hakim (2nd place), Agus Suryani (3rd place), and Novyandi Saputra (4th place).
FKIP ULM Dean, Sunarno Basuki, welcomed the event and gave his full support to its organization. He hopes the tournaments will strengthen emotional bonds among the faculty community and provide significant benefits for participants’ personal development.
Congratulations to all the winners; may you continue to achieve great accomplishments and inspire others. (Admin)
