Identifying Faulty Connections and Surveying the Rectorate ODC
Banjarmasin – Internet services at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) experienced a total outage on Sunday (September 21, 2025) at around 03.00 WITA. The disruption occurred due to physical damage to the fiber optic cable, which was discovered near the greenhouse area.
The FKIP ULM technical team immediately conducted an investigation. The inspection revealed that the main router was unreachable, prompting the field team to trace the cable route from the Rectorate’s Optical Distribution Cabinet (ODC) to the central server. At the site, the optical cable was found to be brittle, with its protective layer melted and eventually breaking during inspection.
To resolve the issue, network repairs were carried out over three days, from September 21 to 23, 2025. The solution involved installing a new cable from the Rectorate ODC directly to FKIP ULM’s central server, then distributing the connection to the ICT server in the Utility IDB Building and the Old FKIP Building. The repair process also included optical splicing, wall drilling, and network configuration.
With the completion of the repairs, internet services at FKIP ULM have now been fully restored and are operating normally.
